Downtown Street Work this Summer

As we head into construction season, there are a few things that CANDO neighbors should be aware of. There will be quite a few projects going on in the downtown area.
  • One project that has already started is the work on the sidewalk corners on many of the downtown streets. There will be sidewalk closures and some lane closures as they work on these throughout the summer. As they finish one, they will move onto another so the corners affected will be changing throughout the project this summer.
  • The Capitol Street Bridge is being replaced so that it can hold heavier traffic. Capitol Street will be closed from June 21st through project completion sometime in October. It will be closed between Union St and D St.
If you have questions or concerns about the construction projects you can contact the City of Salem Project Manager, John Echeverri - 503-588-6211 or jecheverri@cityofsalem.net

Changes in CAN-DO

We have big news! We elected new officials at our last meeting and we now have an official secretary. Jeremy Crofoot volunteered for the position and I have high hopes that he'll keep us nicely organized and on track. Hopefully, this means we will be much better at posting our meeting agendas and minutes online so that everyone has the opportunity to stay involved and informed.

New Board Officers:
  • Rebekah Engle is the new Chair.
  • Alice Morton is again our Vice-Chair.
  • Jeremy Crofoot is the new Secretary.

Thank you to all board members who are so diligently volunteering to help out in the neighborhood!
